11 ultimate desk tools to productivity, clarity and motivation

If you work from home or study at home, your environment can make or break your productivity level. So by focusing on having the best environment around you, it will help you be your best self and get the most work done!

  1. Laptop/phone: This helps you a lot especially if you do online business habits, but you don’t want to always keep it on your desk since it can also distract you. But keep it on your desk when you are doing online habit, and when you are not putting it in a phone case or laptop case on your bed.
  2. Blank papers: This is a distraction free way of doing your habits, it is great for habits like: thinking, writing, or tracking habit progress!
  3. Books you are currently reading: So you can read 1 book at a time or what I recommend is you read multiple books at once so you can think of multiple different angles and improve multiple things in your life at once. For example you could read: 10 pages=health book, 10 pages=communication book, 10 pages=fitness book, 10 pages= money book ( so 40 pages or about 1 hour a day)
  4. Learning notebooks: These notebooks are for paper notes that you want to keep long term, such as: YouTube video learning, courses learning, market research, book notes, etc.
  5. Plants: This can be used as a nice decoration or for a nice smelling plant! So an artificial or a real plant both work great on your desk, it just depends the weather and how much sun and how often you want to care it haha.
  6. Items that motivate you: This keeps your mind on your long term goals even when you are feeling like you are not making progress: Some items you could use are a toy model Ferrari, mini house toy, gold plated notebook, etc. ( mostly items for money)
  7. Different Color Pens: So you could either use 1 black pen and 1 color pen I would recommend for your notes. But on your desk you get a pen holder ( also gold haha), and then put multiple color pens in the pen holder and a black pen on your desk.
  8. Habit Folders: For this I would recommend these steps: 1. print out your business habit list ( example: 16 business habits), 2. Get 1 notebook for each habit: so for this I would recommend you get 16 different color notebooks for looks and organization. 3. Also get another notebook to track your habit progress, and if you want get another notebook for your workouts tracking. ( or just use apps for workout and food tracking!)
  9. Timers: I would recommenced you use multiple different timers for your success habits: such as 1. 20 minute timer for max sit time then move around ( or if you can afford it with space get a nice treadmill desk), 2. A timer starting at 0:00 to start when you do a task if you want to know how long something takes. 3. A max time for a task if you want time pressure and a time limit. Example: 15:00 timer max for thinking of content ideas with pen and paper.
  10. Calculator: Why this? Well a lot of success in life is numbers: calories eaten, social media views, dollars earned, habits done, etc. So by having a calculator on your desk its an easy way to quickly figure out numbers for stuff without worrying about distractions like a phone calculator could have.
  11. Fidget items: Do you remember in like 2017 the popular fidget spinner? Yeah that’s one items that I still like and have on my desk, but you can use really any fidget items. This is so that when your body starts getting bored just use the fidget spinner to keep doing your success habits!

Part 2: What do I put on my desk now?

So now I told you the 11 items to have on your desk and a reason for each one. Now the 2nd thing that you want to do is put a mini night stand, mini table next to your desk that’s maybe 1-2 feet wide and about as tall as your desk.

  • Books: Leave on your bed or on the bottom of your night stand.
  • Blank papers: Put this on the bottom layer of your stand.
  • Folders: Put on top of your stand: So your desk focuses on 1 task, and by putting this on top of your stand you can quickly write your habit progress after each habit, and so that your desk stays clean.
  • Habit folders: Put on top of your papers on the bottom layer of your stand.
  • Items that motivate you and fidget items: On a side of your desk in front of you. ( fidget spinner, gold plated notebook, toy Ferrari, etc) That corner motivates you!
  • Calculator: keep on the other side of items that motivate you.
  • Multi color pens: Put it next to your calculator.
  • Phone/laptop: ( Put it on your desk only when using it), but when you are not using it put it in a phone case, laptop case. And then put it on your bed. In the middle of your desk when using it
  • Plant: ( I recommend a mini or small plant) and put it in front of your desk if its to big or next to the items that motivate you.
  • Timers: Middle open space between items that motivate you and pens/calculators. So when you are using the timers you start it then do the task without having to constantly look at the timers.

Conculation: So with these 11 items and the right desk and night stand setup, you will notice your productivity, motivation, and clarity level up a lot! By having the best setup and working on having the best home office space in your whole room eventually, your productivity will go up a lot more. Because just having random stuff that’s not organized on your desk is a big reason why you might procrastinate, but with this strategy and items you will notice a big difference! Try it today and let me know how it helped you. Thank you!
